On offer is this highly sought Fibre Glass edition of the coveted Ferrari 308 GTB….originally launched at the Paris Motor Show in 1975, this Ferrari literally set the world alight. Pininfarina was once again in business with this spectacular pointy nose wedge design coupled with the right layout where the mid engined motor lay behind the 2 seater sportscar. Production started with the GTB Berlinetta in 1976, with the 308 GTS Targa variant being introduced in 1977. The first 702 308 Ferraris built wore fibreglass bodies before the company switched to steel. In total, just over 12 000 308’s were produced from ’76 to ’85 with the Fibre Glass bodies becoming an ultra-desirable car within Ferrari collectors garages. The early carburettor models of which this is one are the more sought after because of the strong performance and less hassles that fuel injection brought about.

This car’s 8 cylinder, 2927cc engine makes a glorious 255hp as the 4 (yes, you heard right, 4) weber carbs give life to a roughty-ness we love so much from classic cars. Its an absolute riot when the engine is at full chat just behind your head and surprising, the car still pulls hard even by modern standards making for a scintillating and proper involving drive. Weighing in at only 1050kg’s (a full 200kg’s lighter than the steel body) this is the type of car you get in when you want to clear your head, blow off steam and enjoy a proper car with the art of driving fast for what it is…pure bliss. It’s no wonder this model went on to win racing championships the world over.

So now that we know this is a proper Ferrari for the collection…where does this leave us with this car? Well, it’s a much more world-wide desirable LHD for starters and then there’s is the condition: Close to perfect, unrestored, unpainted absolute beauty with only 34 378 miles. ONLY 34k MILES!! That’s only 800 miles a year on average and that is what you need to know, this car has only had 3 custodians from new who have driven this Q car on special occasions within from these collectors. It honestly feels as tight as it was when it first danced off the factory floor, something truly special now some 43 years later. Full service records and all original books with tool kits, spare wheel and even the original radio is in tact and working making this car a real time capsule!
