1984 Alfa GTV6 3.0
We present to you, the fastest production sports car ever built by Alfa Romeo in the 80’s. The GTV6 3.0 was developed mainly for racing, however for it to qualify to race the manufacturer had to build a minimum of 200 examples. Alfa Romeo South Africa built approximately 220 units of the GTV6 3.0. With its debut, the 3.0 won the 2 hour race at Kyalami in 1983 and placed 2nd at the 3 hour World Endurance Championship Race at Killarney. These 3.0 models were all fit with the Dell’Orto Carburettors where they replaced the fuel injection systems, this was all in the formula to replace the peak power with low end torque. With this mod it increased the power to 136KW at 6700rpm and still managed to hit a top speed of 224km/h, 0-100km/h was 8.36 seconds. It didn’t stop there, Alfa made some visible changes too, the bonnet was replaced with the custom lightweight version and fit with the iconic compomotive alloy wheels, some dashes were chawed to the solid straight options too.
The car in the spotlight, underwent a full restoration by leading Alfa specialist in South Africa they completed this showroom condition car with not a cent to spare. From new suspension, exhaust, upholstery, this is just an ongoing list of what was done. This car looks and drives like the day it rolled out of the Factory. With these 3.0’s in demand and only climbing in value, any Alfisti would dream to own one of these iconic cars.
